Pinhead oats are naked oats chopped into small bitesize pieces making them ideal for young and smaller birds, such as the Dunnock with their fine beaks.
Enjoyed by many soft billed birds pinhead oats can be found in our ground and table mixes to provide an oil rich food source, this is particularly important through the spring and summer for parents trying to feed their hungry young.
Pinhead oats are a great no mess food!

I have been trying different seed blends to draw the birds back to my garden and also keep the squirrels off the feeders. The birds seem to love the oats and the safflower as the feeders are being devoured quickly. I am adding the oats to the usual mix and suddenly it seems more popular with our feathered friends. I am going to go back and see what else Peckamix have that will hopefully draw a few more varieties to come and dine.
